Before your placement appointment

Talk to your healthcare provider to find out if Mirena is right for youIf you and your doctor decide that Mirena is right for you, review your health insurance plan to find out if Mirena is covered for you.

To have Mirena placed, make an appointment with your healthcare provider within 7 days of the start of your period. If you have just had a baby, Mirena should not be placed earlier than 6 weeks after you give birth or as directed by your healthcare provider.
